When the ONFIRE team contacted GOMO, way back in 2012, they were struggling with a very rigid existing site, poorly performing on search engines searches and with almost no control on the evolution of their publishing platform (.NET). Surfing is their passion and they needed a friendly CMS to empower their rich content, which includes exclusive videos and surf photo spreads.
Since then, we’ve been working in a close partnership. On 2012, we launched a brand new ONFIRE Surf Magazine website powered by WordPress, with a custom theme developed in-house, allowing for full control on the advertising & content publishing. The well structured code together with the great content produced by ONFIRE, made the SEO project a success.
On 2013, GOMO refactored the site’s social sidebar and introduced Firegram, a new dynamic page where it is possible to navigate through their Instagram feed, without leaving the website, via a custom plugin we developed for the effect.
Later in 2013, and after the huge success of the first online surf competition in Portugal, Jervis & Vagabonds, which we also developed, we came up with a new integrated micro-site, Moche Winter Waves, a video competition for the best surfed wave and the biggest surfed wave, selected by the online visitors’ ratings. A new plugin was created to count the votes and dinamically calculate the average score.
